On December  9, 1921 Cade-Rothwell #1151 AF & AM Masonic Lodge had the first installation of officers.  The lodge was located in the upper room above the  Western Auto on the corner of Main Street and James Street near downtown Houston

In May of 1945,  Brother Harry B. Jones presided in the East.  World War II was coming to a close in Europe,  however the Pacific theater was still at war.   At that time the lodge met  a minimum of three  times weekly.   All exams were conducted on stated meeting night of which there were two a month.  It was common to have lodge open at 7:00pm to conduct 8 to 10 EA and FC exams,  then close.  The lodge would then reopen for stated meeting business at 8:00pm.  At the conclusion of business,  the lodge would then  conduct masters exams.

The average number of candidates petitioning the lodge  per stated meeting fell between 8 to 10 per stated meeting,  resulting in 15 candidates per month.  It was not uncommon to have 3 of the petitions voted down in Spring of 1945.  The lodge denied an average of 5 to 6 petitions for EA per month.  It was not uncommon for the lodge to put on 4 EA degrees in one night.  The lodge would convene at  6:00pm for the purpose of conferring  just EA degrees all in one night.
Since the exams were done on stated meeting nights,  the lodge would confer EA's,  FC's and MM degrees on different nights.  It was a busy place in spite of the large number of men still in Europe and the Pacific.  On one occasion the lodge opened especially to conduct a  MM exam so the new brother could ship out to the Pacific arena of WWII.

Times have changed from the mid forties.  It causes one to pause when thinking about the advances in our society.  A more efficient society has seemed to create less time for lodge.  I believe the pendulum is swinging back in the direction of masonry.  Only time will tell.

In July 1979,  groundbreaking for the current location of our lodge set forth and the cornerstone was put into place.  During that time Brother Cecile Hickey,  PM, DDGM,  was in the East.  The style of the lodge was in the tradition of  the old lodges that were located above hardware stores and such.

The presence in the modern Masonic system, of many of the emblems, symbols and allegories of the ancient Temples of Initiation, as well as certain rites performed therein, has persuaded the most learned among Masonic scholars to conclude that Masonry is of very ancient origin, and is, in some aspects, the modern successor of, and heir to, the sublime mysteries of the Temple of Solomon, and of the Temples of India, Chaldea, Egypt, Greece, and Rome, as well as the basic doctrine of the Essenes, Gnostics and other mystic Orders.
